What is missing here?
Just saw in newspaper that 4 of 10 people in Belgium are using antidepressants longer than 3 years period (https://www.brusselstimes.com/belgium/777766/four-in-ten-belgians-on-antidepressants-for-more-than-three-years) which means that probably 7 of 10 people are using some kind of psychoactive pills to cope with reality. Recently I read that last year (2022) only in port of Antwerp 110 tons of cocaine was seized ( https://www.politico.eu/article/belgium-race-burn-cocaine-gangs-steal-back/) and authorities announced that this year they already broke that record. Experts estimate that is only 10 to 20% of stuff that was travelling to Western European noses. When we add port of Rotterdam and other smuggling spots it comes that more than 1000 tons of Cocaine is demand of Western Europe users from all social groups (speaking from experience).
When we speak about substances that helps us to maintain anesthesia and balance mood throughout the day without being too sensitive towards inner and outer world we cannot skip good old alcohol, sweets (beer and chocolate are my favorites) and wide spread workaholism. Workaholism like a tool to avoid reality was new thing for me when I came in Brussels 10 years ago. For an ex drug user and alcoholic it was really a discovery that you can have same effect by overworking every day (including keeping laptop on stand by and waiting emails from your traumatized boss on Saturday) and staying in office till 7pm. Then I saw even more sophisticated methods for absence from reality by going to sports every day after work for few hours 5 times a week (and not participating in Olympic games) so you manage suppressed rage and unsatisfaction with life.
Many of us using mixture of those techniques from the text above and then if we fell that the danger of awareness is approaching then we fulfil that gap by scrolling our phones compulsively so we can avoid potential risk of getting in touch with our inner world. Funny enough (same guys that are now trying to help humanity with AI) “they” told us that technological development will bring us more free time and we are witnessing completely opposite. I think I have developed attention disorder after 8 years with android phone. Also notice that on gathering with friends and family everyone need to tap phone screen every min and take a look like its gathering of presidents in course of the nuclear war. I’m not agitating for going back to the stone Age and agree that technical devices make life more easy but I have feeling that we are not in charge. The new achievements of technology, which accumulate at great pace are drowning humanity in a swamp of total doubt and creating fragile illusions of power over everything, for all of us. This separates human thought, belief and activity even further from our Divine nature.
1 Corinthians 10 : 23
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.
Also few month ago my wife came home with commercial magazine that post officer is leaving regularly in mailboxes ( promotion of one big market chain). When I took a look I saw that on the same page with washing machines, irons and dryers there are also plastic penises and dildos of all sizes, also double ones so you can put it in every hole in the same time in case one is not working for you anymore.
As a sinner, ex junkie, alcoholic and someone that used pornography and masturbation (2 decades ago) like a relief from stress (it had terrible consequence at my love life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWJeieIIot8&t=32s) I really don’t want to moralize here but rather to ask question about where Western civilization is going while in the meantime trying to implement same corporative values to the rest of the world.
Why we are so traumatized and depressed? Is this system human if woman need to go back to work after only 3 month allowance and give her baby in hands of unknown people ( which is according to Gabor Mate trauma: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P087SYOV6_I&t=8s ) and create trauma of rejection like a welcoming to this society. Did we even notice when all this so called progress stopped serving humanity and started creating corporative soldiers that will before age 30 start to use half of the tolls from the first part of this text.
It was interesting that in the middle of covid crisis people that were more traumatized, suffering multiple burnouts and in pore health condition due to corporative lifestyle have only one concern “when we will get back to normal”.
What is normal and do you think something is missing?
